The AACR's 107th annual meeting took place in New Orleans from April 16th to 20th. With kind support from the NBS I was able to attend this multidisciplinary conference hosting some of the leading scientist in cancer research.
The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is the oldest and largest scientific organization in cancer research. The annual meeting is a unique opportunity to learn about the newest discoveries in all areas of cancer research and to meet and interact with scientists from all over the world.
Although this was my 3rd AACR annual meeting the extent of the program was still overwhelming. It was difficult to pick the most interesting sessions among major and minor symposia, methods workshops, clinical trial symposia, plenary sessions, organ site-specific sessions (just to name a few) and the most relevant among the close to 5000 posters.
This year's theme "Delivering Cures Through Cancer Science" highlighted the connection between basic and translational research and advances in patient care. It was encouraging to see, how breakthrough research finding from previous years are now evaluated in clinical trials and start to be included in standard patient care protocols. One of those successes is
