NBS-nytt
NBS-nytt (startet 1977) er et tidsskrift for biokjemi og molekylærbiologi. Bladet er organ for Norsk Biokjemisk Selskap. Medlemsmassen til NBS omfatter så godt som alle landets biokjemikere og bioteknologer innen forskning og høyere utdanning, i skoleverket og i biokjemirelatert industri. NBS-nytt er et interessant annonseringsmedium for firmaer som er leverandører til ulike grener av dette fagområdet. Bladet har lang levetid og annonsering bør vurderes som alternativ til "direct mailing". Utgivelsen av bladet baseres på frivillig dugnadsinnsats fra de ulike forskningsmiljøene, som skifter på redaksjonsansvaret hvert annet år.

During Spring 2018, Professor Yves Van de Peer from Ghent University visited NMBU and described his work (http://bioinformatics.psb.ugent.be/beg/tags/wgd) on whole genome duplication (WGD).
NBS-nytt ønsker i tiden fremover å gi en kort omtale av nye doktorgrader. Det er redaksjonsmedlemmene i de enkelte lokalforeninger som har ansvaret for å lage disse omtalene.
Thanks to the funding of NBS I was able to attend the ICAR conference (International Conference on Arabidopsis Research) 2018 which was held for the first time in Northern Europe namely in Turku, Finland from the 25th to 29th of June. This is an annual gathering which brings together over 800 plant researchers from all over the world.

NMBU's Professor Jon Swenson participates in the multinational Scandinavian Brown Bear Project which involves scientists from Sweden, Denmark, Germany, UK, USA, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands and France as well as others affiliated with Norwegian national research institutions, colleges and universities at Ås, Tromsø, Trondheim and Hedmark.
On the 14th to 18th of February 2018, I had the pleasure of attending the European Crohn and Colitis Organization 13th annual meeting “ECCO 18", thanks to a travel grant from NBS. The conference took place in Vienna, Austria.
