In 1898, the Italian physician Camillo Golgi published an article where he announced the discovery of a novel intracellular structure, which he termed "apparato reticolare interno", which means: internal reticular apparatus. This structure is now known as the Golgi apparatus, or often “The Golgi".

In honor of the 120th anniversary of this groundbreaking discovery, A FEBS conference was held this fall (15th -19th Oct) in the beautiful town of Sorrento at the Amalfi coast it Italy under the title: The 2018 Golgi meeting: Membrane trafficking in cell organization and homeostasis. I had the pleasure to be selected for an oral presentation at this meeting and attended this meeting together with three of my lab members, Santosh Phuyal, Muhammad Zahoor and Federica Centonze. Such meetings represent an excellent opportunity to learn, network and meet colleagues and friends. Therefore, we were all very excited and looking forward to join this meeting, which was attended by over 200 scientists.
