Norway, with its kindergartens, maternity benefits and clean air, is well-known for being a child-friendly society. But Norwegian cities are in no way distinguished as good places for children to play, says Thea Kvamme Hartmann.
The lack of good playgrounds is, in fact, striking. There are only two public playgrounds inside Oslo's ring road. And the places where we send children are largely garish and safety-focused, fenced off from the surrounding urban environment.
